Roberta Tewes - certified Iyengar instructor - teaches all Iyengar Yoga classes. With Iyengar, alignment based principles give the student a clear and supportive way to practice asana by using props-the wall, blocks, bolsters, straps, a partner and more! Roberta focuses on these alignment based principles of asana by teaching body awareness to her students. Her fun spirit, love and enjoyment of the practice shine through each pose.

      We are the space that was once called The Zen House, first manifested by Kelly Litle in 2012. In 2014, Sutras Yoga was created by Maleese Warner and Emily McConnell to continue the original intention for the studio: hold sacred space for our community, a "come as you are" space to find serenity, and a practice to help guide and support the process. As Maleese moved out of the area, the studio transformed once again and is now managed and maintained by Emily, along with our group of amazing teachers, supportive community & wonderful students.

   We are dedicated to making various forms and levels of yoga available to everyone. We host teachers who offer several modalities of yoga:

Iyengar, Hatha, Restorative, Flow or Vinyasa and Kundalini.

Other complementary movement and meditation practices are offered as well, and we LOVE providing space for teachers to explore new offerings. Our newest way to connect with you is over Zoom for online classes! When the weather is right, we expand the studio to an outdoor location on the bluff overlooking beautiful Anchor Bay. We also love yoga field-trips, to take in the beauty of the coast as well as experience new places to practice.

   We are always looking for new ways to find mindfulness in movement, and we'd love for you to join us!

About Us

Margaret Lindgren is a Yoga Alliance certified Kundalini Yoga Instructor, taught by Ravi Singh and with training through KRI-Kundalini Research Institute.  She is also the Owner & Guide of Unbeaten Path Tours and Yoga.

Kundalini Yoga is an ancient yogic technology founded on the principle of combining the physical with the meditative that delivers an experience of your highest consciousness.  Margaret offers exclusive workshops, classes and retreats geared towards specific goals for both the private and corporate sectors. These classes are beginner and user friendly, and can be joined at any time.

Our mission is to hold space on this beautiful piece of coast for our community to practice yoga in various styles, share knowledge, to heal, meditate or simply just be. Everyone is welcomed and invited to find their practice!

Our Journey

Emily McConnell  is certified through Western Yoga College, and master teacher Dr. Justine Lemos. She has over 500 hours of training in Hatha Yoga, Restorative, Yin, Ashtanga/Vinyasa Flow, with supported studies in Ayurveda and Tantra. She also works 1:1 with individuals, offering private yoga, yogic lifestyle counseling and training. 

Evening / Morning Flow classes generally include building strength and flexibility with synchronized breath and movement sequences, often incorporating modified sun or moon salutations.

Restorative Yoga is intended to deeply relax and nourish the mind-body, and to create enough support for the body to hold postures (asana) in a completely relaxed state. This allows one to receive the pose, rather than do the pose.

All classes focus on reducing stress, anxiety, depression and tension.
